We want to start our blog with a project many are familiar with which is TV mounting. There is a lot to say about this but just to make it simple let’s go over the tools you will need to complete MOST mountings if now all.
1. A Long level
2. A magnetic level – this helps with keeping the level on the mount itself as you hold it on the wall for acuracy
3. A tape measure – to know where to position the mount/tv on the wall
4. A drill- Any should work
5. Drill bits – you will need either masonry or regular wood drill bits
6. Stud finder- I will show the best one by clicking here: The Franklin Sensor. This machine is a densometer meaning it checks for density behind the wall. If you want to check for electrical behind the wall I would use another stud finder that does that:
7. Pencil- To make the marks for the mounting
8. Toggle bolt sets- Especially for metal studs you will need these
9. At least a 1/2” x 30” x 20” piece of wood – this will help you if you are mounting a heavy TV to the wall.
10. A TV mount that spans 24” for the studs- Just in case since many houses do not have the standard distance for the studs of 16” and rather have the 24” measurement bringing this along will help a lot!
